David M. R. Covey

David is cofounder and CEO of SMCOVEY, LLC, a global licensing firm in the professional training industry. SMCOVEY represents 35 IP brands in over a hundred countries. David is an authority in sales and global licensing, and SMCOVEY represents the best-in-class training offerings and licensees in the world. David is coauthor of Trap Tales, a bestselling book translated into nine languages, and the creator of the Trapologist At Work™ training offering that has licensees in 25 countries globally. David delivers 20 to 30 keynote speeches annually for Trapologist At Work. Most of his keynote speeches are delivered in international cities such as Berlin, Moscow, Bangkok, Singapore, and Jakarta. Prior to starting SMCOVEY in 2011, David was Co-Chief Operating Officer of FranklinCovey. During his sixteen years at FranklinCovey, David had a variety of USA and international roles including client partner in the Western Region, managing partner of FranklinCovey Australia, president of FranklinCovey Japan, area vice president of Asia-Pacific, and senior vice president of USA Sales. Prior to joining FranklinCovey, David worked in sales at Procter & Gamble and in marketing at American Express. David has an MBA from Harvard University and a bachelor’s from BYU.
