Tessa has hired and fired thousands of people and has watched how careers rise and fall. She has restructured, laid off, merged, and redesigned companies for over twenty years. Through this experience, her passion has been to build better partnerships between people and the companies in which they work.

Tessa has been the head of Human Resources for fast-growth companies, primarily in technology. She has worked in companies with aggressive growth goals, merger and acquisitions strategies, or those seeking an IPO or exit strategy.

Her first career job was working with acclaimed leadership expert Stephen R. Covey. She moved on to UnitedHealth Group and ended her career with Vivint Solar (now Sunrun), leading their people strategy, which earned recognition as one of Glassdoor’s Best Companies to Work, and helped build a company that sold for 27 times its starting valuation to become one of Blackstone’s most successful sales in history.

Her heart is with young professionals, and she serves on the Board of Trustees for Utah State University, and the boards for Utah Valley University’s Women’s Success Center and the Huntsman School of Business. Active in the business community, she serves on technology and innovation boards, where she mentors and grows Utah’s best and brightest emerging leaders and businesses.While she dedicates most of her days to her practice, The Job Doctor, she gives most of her spare time to fly-fishing and “catching the Big One.”

Most recently she is known for her large social media following of over 1 million, which she amassed in two years. Her unique perspective on the modern workforce makes her a frequent guest on national television shows and in top-tier publications.
